If you do get a flat tire and have no choice you can use the foam, but be forewarned.  If you have tire pressure sensors that are in the rim they could be damaged by the foam and they are anywhere from $50 dollars and up.  Also, if you are taking the tire into the shop and it has the foam in it let the technicians know as it can harm them when they are dismounting the tire.
